Community Benefit Society
Fromehall Mill has provided organisations, past and present, an affordable space to grow, as they deliver services to and support the local community with a diverse range of services and skills – from a rich mix of free-at-the-point-of-delivery to funded support and commercial services. The tenants encourage collaboration and skill-sharing that has positively impacted the users, clients, local businesses, and community groups across the Stroud District.
Fromehall Mill serves as a vibrant focal point in Stroud, attracting community organisations, businesses, and service users from across the Stroud District and Gloucestershire. With over 500 individuals benefiting from services and activities, 53 people employed, and an additional 200 volunteers supporting charitable programs, and scores of commercial clients and partners, The Mill plays a vital role in our local ecosystem.
Fromehall Mill Community Benefit Society (FMCBS) was founded June 2023 to acquire the freehold ownership of Fromehall Mill Stroud. The current owner has accepted an offer from FMCBS and supports the shared vision for the building – to bring it in to community ownership, so it will forever be owned by and for the community it serves.
Our aim is to improve the mill and create a long-term programme of preservation and community led development. We invite you to join us in acquiring this unique community asset for posterity by participating in this community share offer, which has a target of raising £200,000. The share offer launches on 1st November 2023, and ends on 14th February 2024.
